She's a total legend for real Her name is Nelllie Vandergast.

3. 당시 18살의 수영광 소녀였는데, 어쩌다 미스 웨스트 밴쿠버로 뽑히고 일주일 만에 미스 PNE 대회까지 초고속으로 진출했다고 함.

Back then she was an 18-year-old swimming fanatic and somehow she snagged the Miss West Vancouver title then totally fast-tracked to the Miss PNE pageant just a week later

4. 근데 아쉽게도 우승은 못했지.

But sadly she didn't win

5. 세월이 흘러 85세가 된 할머니가 최근 PNE(태평양 내셔널 박람회)에 연락해서 “나 그때 받은 팔찌 있는데, 이거 기부해도 됨?” 하고 물어봤대.

Fast forward the now 85-year-old grandma hit up the PNE and was like 'Yo, I still got that bracelet from way back, can I donate it?'

6. PNE 측은 완전 환영하면서 할머니를 위해 작은 행사를 열어줬고, 거기서 봉인되어 있던 1991년산 미스 PNE 티아라를 꺼내와서 할머니 머리에 씌워준 거임.

The PNE folks were super stoked and even threw a small event for her where they busted out a sealed 1991 Miss PNE tiara and crowned her with it.

8. 근데 이 할머니 인생사가 더 레전드임.

But her life story is even more legendary.

9. 네덜란드 식민지 시절 수마트라에서 태어나셨는데, 2차 대전 때 일본군 침략으로 수마트라랑 싱가포르 수용소에서 지내셨대.

Born in Sumatra during the Dutch colonial days, she ended up in internment camps in Sumatra and Singapore when WWII hit and the Japanese invaded.

10. 전쟁 끝나고 캐나다로 와서 교사로 오래 일하셨다고.

After the war she moved to Canada and taught for ages

11. 이런저런 일을 겪으셔서 그런지 미인대회 같은 건 별로 신경도 안 쓰셨다네.
