Turns out, her own mom battled severe mental illness and addiction, and tragically, she ended up taking her own life. Man, what a heavy family history to carry.3. 그래서 장관으로 임명됐을 때 ‘이건 운명인가’ 싶었다는 거지.
So, when she got the minister gig, she was like, 'Is this fate or what?'4. 자기 엄마 얘기를 공개하면서 정신질환에 대한 사회적 편견을 없애고 사람들이 도움을 구하도록 격려하고 싶었다고 함.
She reportedly wanted to open up about her mom's story to smash the social stigma around mental illness and get people to seek help.5. 근데 여기서부터가 진짜임.
But this is where the real story begins.6. 당시 총리였던 존 호건이 나중에 자기 회고록에서 ‘그 부서 따로 만든 거 실수였음’이라고 저격한 거.
John Horgan, who was the Premier at the time, later dropped a bombshell in his memoir, basically saying, 'Setting up that ministry as its own thing? Total screw-up, bro.'7. 다아시는 ‘아닌데? 우리 초반에 성과 좋았는데?

And get this, as a minister, she was totally grilled by some 'high-ranking government honcho' who basically barked, 'Who told you to push for drug decriminalization?!' She got treated like a little kid and really got an earful.10. 이 정도면 누가 봐도 총리가 시킨 거 아니냐고 ㅋㅋㅋ
Clearly, the Premier was pulling the strings here, right? LOL.11. 결국 2020년에 정계 은퇴하고, 새로 온 총리가 다아시 정책들 다시 원위치시키는 분위기라 좀 씁쓸하긴 한데, 그래도 자기가 닦아놓은 ‘희망으로 가는 길’은 계속될 거라고 믿는다는, 약간은 짠한 마무리임.
She eventually retired from politics in 2020, and it's kinda bittersweet that the new premier is rolling back her policies, but she still believes the ‘path to hope’ she laid out will continue, making for a somewhat poignant ending.
