ABC Vancouver, which has a tight grip on the city council, blasted out emails to raise some funds.2. 2026년 선거 앞두고 자기들이 일 잘해서 범죄율이 확 줄었다고 자랑을 늘어놓은 거야.
Leading up to the 2026 election they were bragging about how they crushed it and made crime rates tank.3. 폭력 범죄 18% 감소, 강도 44% 감소라면서 숫자까지 딱 박아놨지.
They even threw in the exact figures, claiming violent crime dipped 18% and robberies tanked by 44%.4. 근데 이게 알고 보니 완전 눈속임이었던 거임.
But it turns out, the whole thing was just a total smokescreen.5. 이메일에는 분명 ‘시 전체’라고 써놨는데, 사실은 저기 험하기로 유명한 다운타운 이스트사이드(DTES, 노숙자나 마약 문제가 많은 빈민가) 특정 구역, 그것도 경찰 집중 단속 기간 동안의 수치였던 거야.
Even though the email explicitly claimed it was city-wide, those figures were actually cherry-picked from a notorious part of the DTES during a police crackdown.6. 웃긴 건 얘네 전에도 이 숫자 썼다가 걸려서 “아 실수~” 하고 내렸던 적 있거든?
The funny thing is they already got busted for using these numbers before and had to pull them down with a lame “Oops, my bad.”7. 근데 슬쩍 다시 들고나온 거지.
But they basically just tried to sneak it back in anyway8. 경찰 공식 통계를 까보니까 실제로는 폭력 범죄 10% 정도 줄었더라.
Checking the official police stats violent crime actually dropped by about 10 percent9. 줄긴 줄었는데 자기들이 뻥튀기한 거랑은 차이가 크잖아.
It did go down, but there’s a massive gap compared to their puffed-up stats.10. 야당 의원들은 “통계 주작(요리)해서 여론 선동하냐”면서 극딜 넣고 있어.
Opposition councilors are slamming them for cooking the stats to manipulate public opinion11. 켄 심 시장 계정에도 비슷한 영상 올라왔는데, 거긴 ‘시 전체’란 말은 뺐다지만 누가 봐도 전체인 줄 알게 만들어놨어.
Mayor Ken Sim posted a similar video too, and even though he ditched the phrase “city-wide,” he framed it so that anyone would think it was the whole city.12. 진짜 가지가지 한다 싶지 않냐?
