1. 이번에 데이비드 이비 BC주 수상님이 오타와 연방 회의에 가서 아주 제대로 입 좀 털고 오셨음.

BC Premier David Eby headed to the federal summit in Ottawa and really let it rip.

2. 마크 카니 총리랑 주 수상들이 모인 자리였는데, 여기서 앨버타 분리주의자들이 트럼프 행정부랑 만난 걸 두고 “그거 반역(treason) 아님?”이라며 시원하게 딜을 박아버린 거임.

At a meeting with Mark Carney and the premiers, he totally called out the Alberta separatists for meeting Trump’s team, basically asking, ‘Isn’t that treason?’

4. 정치 평론가들은 이비 형이 ‘갈취 범죄(extortion)’ 문제를 공론화시키고 앨버타 독립 움직임에 대한 여론을 돌리는 데는 성공했다고 보고 있음.

Political pundits think Eby nailed it by bringing the extortion issue to light and turning the tide on Alberta’s separation movement.

5. 근데 실질적인 효과가 있을지는 좀 더 지켜봐야 한다고 함.

6. UBC 교수님 말로는 앨버타 오일샌드에서 북쪽 해안으로 이어지는 송유관 문제에 대해서는 이비 형이 좀 수세에 몰려있긴 한데, 그래도 오타와나 에드먼턴에서 뭐 하나라도 양보받으면 이득이라고 함.

UBC prof says Eby is on the ropes regarding the pipeline issue from Alberta, but scoring any concession from Ottawa or Edmonton is still considered a total win.

7. 다행히 앨버타의 다니엘 스미스 수상이 키티맷(Kitimat)을 새 송유관 종착지에서 배제하겠다고 해서 분위기는 나쁘지 않음.

Fortunately, Danielle Smith is keeping Kitimat off the table for the new pipeline, so things aren't looking too bad.

8. 스미스 누님도 환경 문제나 원주민 반대 같은 걸 신경 쓰는 눈치임.

It looks like Smith is also keeping tabs on things like environmental issues and Indigenous opposition

9. 이건 BC주 입장에선 완전 개이득인 부분임.

This is a massive win for BC's side

10. 그리고 연방 정부한테서 갈취 범죄 때려잡을 경찰 인력 20명이랑 헬기 지원 약속도 받아냈음.

He also scored a promise from the feds for 20 extra cops and a chopper to crack down on extortion

11. 이 정도면 오타와 가서 빈손으로 온 건 아니라는 평임.

It’s safe to say he didn’t walk away from Ottawa empty-handed

12. 근데 BC 보수당 쪽에서는 “입만 살았고 행동은 없다”면서 디스하고 있음.

But the BC Conservatives are calling him out, saying he is all talk and no action.

13. 특히 송유관 문제는 남들이 결정하는 대로 끌려다니는 거 아니냐며 까는 중임.

They're especially calling him out on the pipeline issue, saying he's just getting dragged along by other people's calls.

14. 아무튼 이비 형이 “매국노” 발언으로 어그로(aggro) 끄는 데는 확실히 성공한 듯함.

Anyway, Eby definitely nailed it when it came to grabbing everyone’s attention with that traitor talk

15. 트럼프가 캐나다 주권 건드리는 거 때문에 사람들 빡쳐있는데, 거기다 대고 시원하게 질러주니까 BC주 내에서는 반응이 나쁘지 않은 듯.

Trump’s messing with Canada’s sovereignty has got everyone fuming and livid, so telling it like it is is going down pretty well in BC.
