Mayor Brenda Locke just announced she’s dropping a whopping 200 million bucks to build a 10,000-seat sports and entertainment arena.

4. 이게 써리시의 5년짜리 7억 7,900만 달러 자본 계획 중 하나인데, 시장 본인도 지금 경제가 팍팍하다는 건 알지만 써리가 워낙 폭풍 성장 중이라 이런 투자가 필요하다는 입장이야.

This is part of Surrey's 5-year, $779 million capital plan, and while the mayor gets that money is tight right now, she insists this investment is a must because the city is growing like crazy.

5. UBC(브리티시컬럼비아 대학교) 교수님도 “써리 인구 늘어나는 속도 보면 뭐라도 짓긴 해야 함”이라고 거들고 나섰지.

Even a UBC professor chimed in, saying that given how fast Surrey's population is blowing up, they've got to build something.

6. 새 경기장은 내년부터 공사 들어가서 예전 BC 라이온스(캐나다 프로 미식축구 팀) 연습 구장 자리에 들어설 예정이야.

They're gonna break ground on the new stadium next year, right where the old BC Lions practice facility used to be.

7. 게이트웨이 스카이트레인역이랑도 엄청 가까워서 접근성도 좋고, 주변에 호텔이나 쇼핑몰 쫙 깔아서 완전 핫플로 만들겠다는 큰 그림을 그리고 있어.

Being super close to Gateway SkyTrain station, their big picture is to turn it into a massive hotspot packed with hotels and malls all around it.

They say they're gonna foot the bill by selling naming rights and leasing out shops, but hey, let's just wait and see.
