1. 월요일 밤 미션(Mission, BC주 프레이저 밸리에 있는 소도시)에 위치한 한 양로원에서 큰 화재가 발생해서 거주하시던 어르신들이 모두 긴급 대피하는 안타까운 일이 있었어.
A massive fire broke out at a retirement home in Mission Monday night, forcing all the seniors to evacuate in a hurry, which was honestly just heart-wrenching.
2. 미션 연방경찰(RCMP) 대변인 해리슨 모어 경장의 발표를 보면, 밤 9시 40분 무렵까지도 소방관들이 7번가에 있는 차트웰 캐링턴 하우스(Chartwell Carrington House) 양로원의 거센 불길을 잡기 위해 현장에서 사투를 벌이고 있었다고 해.
According to Mission RCMP’s Harrison Mohr firefighters were still out there battling a massive blaze at Chartwell Carrington House on 7th Avenue as of 9:40 PM
3. 다행히 대피하신 어르신들은 근처 미션 레저 센터로 안전하게 모셔졌어.
Thankfully, the seniors who were evacuated were safely moved to the Mission Leisure Centre nearby
4. 그곳에는 구급대원들이 상주하면서 의료적인 확인이나 치료가 필요한 모든 분들을 세심하게 돌보고 있는 중이야.
Paramedics are stationed right there looking after everyone who needs a medical check or treatment
5. 다만 아직 양로원에 계시던 모든 분들의 인원 파악이 완벽하게 끝났는지는 경찰도 확인해 주지 못한 상태라 마음이 좀 무겁네.
But the police haven’t confirmed yet if everyone is accounted for, which is a real weight on my mind.
6. 현재 시더 스트리트(Cedar Street)와 브리스컴 스트리트(Briskham Street) 사이의 7번가 도로는 화재 진압을 위해 양방향 모두 전면 통제되고 있어.
Right now, 7th Avenue between Cedar and Briskham is totally shut down both ways for the fire crews to work.
7. 경찰은 구조대원들이 구호 작업에 집중하고, 혹시라도 아직 구조되지 못한 대피자들을 신속하게 파악할 수 있도록 당분간 이 근처로는 절대 접근하지 말아 달라고 강력하게 당부했어.
Police are strongly urging everyone to stay clear for now so responders can focus on rescue work and quickly track down any missing residents
8. 참고로 불이 난 차트웰 캐링턴 하우스는 반려동물과 함께 지낼 수 있는 곳이고, 두 개 건물에 걸쳐 126개나 되는 방이 있는 꽤 규모가 큰 시설이야.

9. 천만다행으로 바로 근처에 있는 차트웰 시더브룩 양로원으로는 불길이 번지지 않았다고 하네.
Thankfully, the flames didn’t spread to the nearby Chartwell Cedarbrooke retirement home
