According to a researcher from the Marine Conservation Science Institute, this 16-foot giant female great white is named “Cara.”
4. 작년 10월에 캘리포니아 남부에서 위치 추적기를 달아놓은 6마리 중 하나인데, 수면 위로 올라오면 추적기에서 핑 하고 신호를 쏘거든.
She’s one of six sharks tagged back in SoCal last October, sending a ping every time she breaks the surface.
5. 근데 이번에 밴쿠버 아일랜드 쪽에서 그 신호가 딱 잡힌 거지.
But this time, the tracker actually pinged right near Vancouver Island

She probably headed all the way up here in search of a delicious meal like seals or sea lions.

The BC coastline has been absolutely swarming with seals and sea lions lately.
9. 전문가들은 기후변화로 바닷물이 점점 따뜻해지면서 백상아리들이 먹이를 찾아 북쪽으로 더 자주 올라올 가능성이 높다고 보고 있어.
Experts say that as the ocean warms up due to climate change, great white sharks are more likely to head north more often looking for something to eat
10. 지난 100년 동안 이쪽 바다 온도가 1도 정도 올랐는데, 이번 세기 안에는 2~3도 더 오를 수도 있다고 하네.
The water’s warmed up about a degree over the last hundred years, and they say it could jump another two or three degrees this century.
11. 하지만 백상아리가 아예 이쪽 바다에 터를 잡고 살 확률은 아직 낮대.
But it is still pretty unlikely for great whites to settle down in these waters

The water isn’t exactly toasty yet and besides, orcas—the sharks’ ultimate predators— totally rule the area, so they’ve gotta watch their backs out there.
