페리 기다리다 멘탈 바사삭 된 김에 영어 공부나 하고 가라 - 싼티영어

1. 오늘 홀슈베이(밴쿠버에서 다른 섬들로 넘어가는 주요 페리 선착장) 상황 진짜 장난 아니었어.

Things were absolutely wild at Horseshoe Bay today

2. 완전 헬게이트 열렸었다니까.

All hell broke loose at the terminal today.

3. 오후 1시 조금 넘어서 퀸 오브 서리호(대형 여객선 이름)에 경찰이 긴급 출동하는 바람에 페리 운항이 올스톱돼버렸거든.

Ferry service ground to a screeching halt just after 1 PM when cops swarmed the Queen of Surrey for an emergency call.

4. 경찰 아저씨들이 터미널 자체를 셧다운시키고 사람들한테 근처에도 오지 말라고 통제해서 다들 멘붕 왔었지.

Cops shut down the whole terminal and told everyone to stay away, so people were totally freaking out.

5. 알고 보니까 무슨 영화에 나오는 흉악 범죄나 테러 같은 건 아니었고, 어떤 분이 경찰의 도움이 간절히 필요한 상황이어서 출동했던 거였어.

It turns out it wasn't some crazy violent crime or terrorism straight out of a movie, but rather someone in desperate need of police assistance.

6. 시민들한테 위험한 일은 전혀 없었다고 하니까 그나마 천만다행이지.

It's a massive relief that there was absolutely no danger to the public

7. 근데 문제는 이 상황을 수습하느라 터미널이 장장 몇 시간 동안 얼음 상태였다는 거.

But the kicker was that the terminal was at a total standstill for hours while they sorted this mess out

8. SNS 보니까 차들이 꼼짝없이 터미널에 갇혀서 거대한 주차장 빙의한 짤들이 엄청 올라오더라.

Social media was flooded with photos of cars stuck at the terminal, basically turning the whole place into a giant parking lot.

9. 안 그래도 지루한데 차에서 오도 가도 못하는 사람들 진짜 멘탈 바사삭 털렸을 듯.

As if being bored wasn't enough those people stuck in their cars must've totally lost it

10. 화장실 가고 싶은 사람들은 어떡했을까 상상만 해도 아찔해.

It’s pure nightmare fuel just picturing how the people who needed the washroom managed.

11. 결국 보웬 아일랜드(밴쿠버 근처에 있는 작은 섬)로 가는 사람들을 위해서는 급한 대로 수상 택시까지 투입해서 실어 나르는 진풍경이 벌어졌어.

They actually ended up calling in water taxis to shuttle Bowen Island folks across which was a total wild sight to see

12. 다행히 저녁 6시 10분쯤에 모든 상황이 안전하게 종료됐고, 7시부터는 드디어 페리가 다시 정상적으로 움직이기 시작했대.

Luckily, everything was wrapped up safely around 6:10 PM, and the ferries finally started running again like normal at 7:00

13. 오늘 페리 타려던 사람들 진짜 강제 인내심 테스트 제대로 치렀어.

Anyone trying to catch the ferry today really had their patience tested to the limit

14. 그래도 다친 사람 없이 무사히 끝나서 훈훈한 결말이긴 하다.

At least it wrapped up safely with no one getting hurt, making it a truly heartwarming ending.
