But around 2016, the Chinese government really started cracking down on capital flight, and after the BC government slapped on a foreign buyer tax, all that offshore cash just dried up.
5. 덕분에 메이플 릿지나 포트 코퀴틀람 같은 외곽 지역은 지난 10년 동안 집값이 80~90%씩 떡상했는데, 정작 밴쿠버 최고급 동네들은 해외 투자자가 빠지니까 그 비싼 집값을 감당할 현지 자본이 없어서 가격이 정체되거나 오히려 떡락하고 있는 상황이야.
Thanks to that, suburbs like Maple Ridge and PoCo saw their home prices go to the moon by 80 to 90 percent over the last decade, but the fancy neighborhoods are hitting a wall or even crashing hard because locals can’t afford the price tag without that foreign cash.
6. 게다가 최근에 이자율까지 오르고 여러 경제 악재까지 겹치면서 고가 주택 거래가 꽉 막혀버렸지.
On top of that, rising interest rates and various economic headwinds have basically brought high-end real estate deals to a total standstill lately.
