At about 6:21 Sunday evening, a car driving near Schubert and Birch suddenly veered off the road and plunged into the RAGING North Thompson River.
3. 사고 당시 차 안에는 두 명이 타고 있었는데, 조수석에 있던 21세 여성 승객은 사고를 목격하고 지체 없이 강물로 뛰어든 용감한 시민 세 명 덕분에 무사히 구조될 수 있었어.
There were two people in the car, but the 21-year-old passenger was saved thanks to three brave bystanders who jumped right in without a second thought.
4. 구조를 도왔던 시민 한 명과 조수석 승객은 인근 로열 인랜드 병원(Royal Inland Hospital)으로 이송되어 치료를 받았고, 다행히 두 사람 모두 생명에는 지장이 없는 상태라고 해.
A local hero who jumped in and the passenger were rushed to the nearby Royal Inland Hospital for treatment, and thankfully, both are in stable condition now.
5. 하지만 정말 슬프게도 차량을 몰던 24세 여성 운전자는 구조되지 못했어.
Sadly though, the 24-year-old woman behind the wheel didn't make it out
6. 목격자들에 따르면 불어난 강물에 차가 가라앉으면서 운전자가 거센 물살에 휩쓸려 하류로 떠내려가는 걸 끝으로 시야에서 사라졌다고 해.
Witnesses say that as the car went down in the swollen river the driver was swept away by the powerful current and was last seen drifting downstream before vanishing from sight.
7. 사고 직후에 곧바로 구조 보트가 물에 투입되어 수색에 나섰지만 끝내 운전자를 찾지 못했고, 날이 밝은 월요일에 다시 수색 작업이 재개된 상황이야.
Rescue boats hit the water right after the accident to track her down but came up empty-handed so the search kicked off again Monday morning
