2. 지중해나 카리브해에서 놀던 슈퍼요트들이 올여름에는 BC(브리티시 컬럼비아)주 해안으로 엄청나게 몰려올 예정이래.
Word has it, those superyachts that used to hang in the Med or Caribbean are gonna flock to the BC coast this summer in massive numbers.
3. 그중에서도 “파이브 웨이브스(Five Waves)”라는 40미터짜리 이탈리아산 슈퍼요트가 있는데, 이거 주인이 올여름부터 가을까지 BC주 바다에서 럭셔리 전세 영업을 하려고 캐나다 정부에 허가 신청을 냈어.
One of them is a 130-foot Italian superyacht called Five Waves, and its owner just applied for a permit to run luxury charters in BC waters from this summer through fall.
4. 원래 캐나다 법상 외국 요트는 영업하기 까다로운데, 우리나라엔 이런 초호화 요트가 없어서 아마 무난하게 통과될 각이야.
Under Canadian law, it’s usually a pain for foreign yachts to operate here, but since we’re lacking these superyachts, it’ll likely breeze through the process.
5. 이 요트는 진짜 급이 다른데, 스위트룸만 5개에 선데크도 여러 개 있고, 최고 속도가 38노트(시속 약 70km)나 돼서 바다 위를 날아다니는 수준이야.
This yacht is on a whole other level rocking five suites and multiple sundecks and it basically flies across the water at a top speed of 38 knots
6. 가격은 무려 550만 달러(약 75억 원) 정도 한다네.
It’s gonna set you back a cool five point five million bucks
7. 밴쿠버 앞바다나 선샤인 코스트 같은 곳을 싹 돌 예정인데, 찐부자 형님들이 이런 오지까지 와서 그야말로 “돈지랄”을 엄청나게 해준다는 거지.
They’re gonna hit up Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast, while those filthy rich ballers come all this way just to splash some serious cash.
8. 올여름 밴쿠버에서 열리는 월드컵도 한몫했고, 중동 쪽 상황이 뒤숭숭하다 보니 안전하고 프라이빗한 북미로 피신 오는 것도 있어.

9. 근데 하나 웃픈 건, BC주에 이 거대한 요트들을 세워둘 큰 항구(마리나)가 턱없이 부족하다는 거야.

10. 그래서 바다 한가운데 둥둥 띄워놓고 작은 보트로 육지를 왔다 갔다 해야 한대.
So they’ve got to keep them anchored out at sea and shuttle back and forth to shore on small boats
11. 그래도 지역 경제 입장에서는 완전 개꿀인 게, 이 사람들이 한 번 오면 항구 이용료부터 기름값, 식당에서 쓰는 돈이 장난이 아니거든.
But honestly, it’s a total goldmine for the local economy because these guys drop a ton of cash on everything from docking fees to fuel and food
12. 찐부자들이 우리 동네 와서 지갑 좀 시원하게 열어주고 갔으면 좋겠네.
