To top it all off, he was grinning while holding his phone during the attack, making the poor girl think she was being recorded and leaving her scared to death.
4. 피해자가 비명을 지르며 도망쳐서 경찰에 신고했는데, 체포 직전엔 유모차를 끈 다른 여성에게 다가가 자기 손 냄새를 맡아보라고 하기도 했대.
The victim bolted while screaming and called the cops, but right before getting nabbed, he actually walked up to another lady pushing a stroller and told her to sniff his hands.
5. 알고 보니 이 사람은 이전에도 스카이트레인(밴쿠버의 경전철) 역에서 버스를 기다리던 여성의 엉덩이를 때리거나, 길을 걷던 여성에게 성기를 노출하며 죽여버리겠다고 협박하는 등 여러 차례 성범죄와 음란 행위를 저지른 전과자였어.
Turns out this guy was already a repeat offender with a long record of slapping women’s butts and exposing himself while threatening to kill them
6. 도서관에서 옷을 벗고 음란행위를 하거나 여성의 얼굴에 침을 뱉는 등 범죄 기록이 2019년부터 끊이지 않았지.
Since 2019, he’s had a non-stop rap sheet for everything from stripping in libraries to spitting in women’s faces.
7. 법원 심리학자는 이 남성이 지역 사회에서 성범죄를 다시 저지를 위험이 매우 높고, 주로 혼자 있는 여성을 노린다고 경고했어.
The court psychologist warned that this guy is at high risk of re-offending and mostly targets women out by themselves

But what is truly mind-blowing is the court’s final verdict.

The judge acknowledged how horrific the crime was but factored in his guilty plea and family support when handing down a 695-day prison sentence.
10. 하지만 재판 전 구치소에서 보낸 기간을 1.5배로 계산해서 빼주는 바람에, 앞으로 감옥에서 보낼 시간은 고작 227일밖에 남지 않았어.
But since he got time-and-a-half for his pre-trial detention, he’s only looking at 227 days left to serve behind bars.
