Originally, it set them back a whopping 16 billion dollars just to build the John Horgan Dam, which was finished recently.
4. 근데 이번에는 그 근처에 ‘Site E(새로 지을 댐 후보지)’라는 걸 또 검토 중이래.

5. 딕스 장관 말로는 1960년대 이후로 처음 보는 미친듯한 인구 증가 때문에 청정에너지 수요가 폭발하고 있어서 어쩔 수 없다네.

6. 그래서 예전 정부가 법으로 쾅쾅 못 박아둔 대형 수력 발전소 건설 금지령도 슬쩍 풀려고 각을 재고 있어.
So they're testing the waters to quietly lift the ban on building massive hydro dams that the previous government set in stone.
7. 전기 아껴 쓰기 캠페인도 다시 빡세게 돌리고, 기존 댐들도 업그레이드하면서, 새 댐에 지열, 바이오매스 같은 온갖 영혼을 다 끌어모아 발전소를 짓겠다는 거지.
They're gonna seriously ramp up energy saving campaigns again, upgrade the existing dams, and pull out all the stops to build power plants using geothermal and biomass.

Green groups are like, “Seriously?” “A measly fifty percent bump?”

They're dropping truth bombs, saying it doesn't even hold a candle to the federal government's targets
11. 게다가 옛날에 대형 댐 짓는 거 결사반대했던 NDP(현재 BC주 집권 여당)가 이제 와서 댐을 더 짓겠다고 나서니까, 다들 어불성설 오지네 하면서 황당해하는 분위기야.
On top of that, the NDP, BC's current ruling party, used to be dead set against building giant dams, but now that they're trying to build more, everyone is calling them out for their total hypocrisy.
12. 아무튼 2030년부터는 진짜 전기가 부족해질 수도 있다는데, 우리 전기세는 어떻게 될지 벌써부터 킹받는 부분이야.
Anyway, we might seriously run short of electricity starting in 2030, and it is already driving me nuts thinking about our power bills.
