1. 수요일 오후에 앤모어 마을 근처 벨카라 공원에서 갑자기 산불이 터졌어.
A wildfire suddenly broke out in Belcarra Park near Anmore on Wednesday afternoon.
2. 오후 2시 반쯤 블랙베어 웨이랑 펀 드라이브 쪽에 사는 동네 주민들이 밖에서 시커먼 연기가 올라오는 걸 보고 잽싸게 911에 신고를 때렸지.
Around 2:30 PM, locals near Black Bear Way and Fern Drive spotted thick black smoke outside and immediately called 911.
3. 처음에는 사사맛 자원소방대랑 포트무디 소방서가 출동했는데, 규모가 심상치 않아서 B.C.
At first Sasamat and Port Moody firefighters responded but things got way too big so B.C. Wildfire Service stepped right in

Even the BC Wildfire Service jumped right into action
5. 초기 진압팀이랑 헬기 3대나 출동해서 위에서 물을 들이붓고 진짜 빡세게 진화 작업을 했지.
Initial attack crews and three helicopters rolled up, dumping water from above and working like crazy to put it out.
6. 근데 오후 6시쯤 되니까 불길이 벌써 Canadian Football League(캐나다 풋볼 리그) 경기장 3개를 합친 크기만큼 확 번져버린 거야.
But by around 6 p.m., the wildfire had already blown up to the size of three CFL fields.
7. 그래서 근처 펀 드라이브에 있는 집 2채는 아예 전술적 대피를 했고, 크리스탈 크릭 드라이브 쪽 12채는 대피 경보를 받았어.
So two homes on nearby Fern Drive were tactically evacuated right away, while twelve homes on Crystal Creek Drive were put on an evacuation alert.
8. 나중에는 펀 드라이브 22채랑 오크 코트 6채까지 대피 경보가 확대됐지 뭐야.
Later on, the evacuation alert was expanded to 22 homes on Fern Drive and 6 homes on Oak Court.
9. 소방대원들이 현장에 도착했을 때 땅에 끊어진 송전선이 떨어져 있었다네.
When the firefighters got to the scene, downed power lines were lying on the ground.
10. 전기가 찌릿찌릿 흐르는 엄청 위험한 상황이라 지상팀은 일단 뒤로 쫙 빠지고 공중에서 헬기로만 물을 뿌려서 불을 껐대.
Since live wires made it crazy dangerous the ground crew had to pull back fighting the fire strictly from helicopters above
11. 게다가 벨카라 공원 남쪽에는 대형 저유소 시설까지 있어서 하마터면 진짜 뉴스 1면 장식할 뻔했어.
On top of that, there is a massive oil storage facility south of Belcarra Park, which almost made front-page news.
12. 그래도 밤 8시쯤 되니까 소방 당국에서 밤사이에는 불이 더 안 번질 거라고 꽤 자신 있게 말하더라고.
Still, by around 8 PM, fire officials were pretty confident the fire wouldn't spread overnight.
13. 소방관 형님들이 밤새 현장 지키면서 혹시 모를 잔불까지 싹 다 감시한대.
The firefighters are staying on scene overnight to keep an eye out for any lingering embers
14. 마을에서도 비상대책본부 가동해서 웹사이트로 계속 상황 알려주고 있어.
The village activated its emergency operations center and keeps everyone posted on their website
15. 근데 제일 킹받는 포인트는 이 불이 자연 발생이 아니라 사람 때문에 난 걸로 추정된다는 거야.
But what really gets on my nerves is that this fire is suspected to be human-caused rather than starting from natural causes.
16. 진짜 건조할 때 산에 갈 땐 제발 불조심 좀 제대로 했으면 좋겠어.
I really wish folks would practice fire safety when hitting the trails during dry spells.
