Ever since the Trans Mountain pipeline expanded from Edmonton all the way to Burnaby, oil tankers have been literally flooding into the waters off Vancouver.
2. SFU(사이먼 프레이저 대학교) 명예교수님이 선박 트래픽 데이터를 싹 돌려봤더니, 지난 7월에만 무려 31척이나 들어왔다네.
An SFU professor emeritus crunched the vessel traffic data and found that a whopping 31 tankers arrived last July.
3. 2024년 중반에 파이프라인이 개통된 이후로 한 달에 30척을 넘긴 건 이번이 처음이야.
This is the first time it topped 30 tankers a month since the pipeline opened in mid-2024
4. 한 척당 무려 80만 배럴의 기름을 실을 수 있는데, 여기서 나가는 원유의 65%는 중국과 한국 같은 아시아로, 나머지 35%는 미국으로 향하고 있어.
Each tanker can hold a whopping 800,000 barrels of oil, with 65 percent of the crude bound for Asia like China and Korea, and the rest heading straight to the States.

With oil refineries booming all across Asia, demand for Canadian crude is through the roof.
6. 지금 송유관은 하루에 89만 배럴까지 나를 수 있고, 정부가 소유한 회사라서 무려 550만 배럴을 쟁여둘 수 있는 저장 탱크 26개도 굴리고 있어.
The pipeline currently carries up to 890,000 barrels daily, and being state-owned, they run 26 storage tanks holding a whopping 5.5 million barrels in total.
7. 근데 알버타주는 이것도 모자란지 기존 파이프라인 옆에 아예 세 번째 라인을 깔아서 트와슨의 로버츠 뱅크(Roberts Bank, 델타 지역에 있는 대형 수출항) 쪽으로 기름을 빼려고 각을 재고 있더라고.
But Alberta feels like that’s still not enough, so they’re eyeing a third pipeline right next to the existing ones to ship oil out toward Roberts Bank in Tsawwassen.
8. 버나비 쪽은 다리 밑을 지나야 해서 초거대 유조선이 못 들어오거든.
