2. B.C. Wildfire Service (BC주 산불 관리국)도 화재 진압하느라 뼈 빠지게 고생하는 그 와중에, 스쿼미시 경찰이 Sea to Sky Highway (씨 투 스카이 고속도로) 근처에 일부러 불을 지른 29살 빌런을 체포했어.
While the BC Wildfire Service was busting their butts fighting fires, Squamish police busted a 29-year-old villain who intentionally set fires near the Sea to Sky Highway.

4. 사건은 8월 22일 자정 직후에 일어났어.
The incident went down right after midnight on August 22nd
5. 휘슬러랑 스쿼미시 사이 고속도로 서쪽에서 불이 엄청 빠르게 번지고 있다는 신고가 들어왔거든.
We got a call about a fire spreading insanely fast west of the highway between Whistler and Squamish.
6. 목격자들이 어떤 남자가 불을 지르는 걸 봤다고 제보해서, 경찰이 바로 출동해 이 방화범을 잡았지.
Witnesses reported seeing a guy set a fire, so cops rushed to the scene and busted the arsonist right away.
7. 경찰이랑 B.C. Conservation Officer Service (BC주 자연보호관 서비스), 그리고 산불 관리국이 싹 다 조사해 보니까, 체카무스 협곡 근처 트레일 북쪽 끝에서 의심스러운 화재가 무려 3건이나 발견된 거야.
When the cops, B.C. Conservation Officers, and wildfire crews dug into it, they spotted as many as three suspicious fires near the north end of Cheakamus Canyon trail.
8. 다행히 지금은 다 진화됐다고 해.
Luckily, they say all the fires have been completely put out now.
9. 담당 경찰 아저씨도 “지금 불조심해야 하는 아슬아슬한 시즌인데 이런 짓은 진짜 선 넘었지”라며 혀를 찼어.
The lead officer shook his head, saying doing something like this during peak wildfire risk season is seriously crossing the line.
10. 그나마 다행인 건 BC주 산불 상황이 좀 나아져서 8월 27일에 state of emergency (비상사태)도 해제됐어.
On the bright side, the BC wildfire situation got a bit better, so they lifted the state of emergency on August 27th.
11. 지난주에만 100건 넘는 불이 꺼졌고, 9월 4일 기준으로는 굵직한 산불도 없대.
More than a hundred fires were put out last week alone, and as of September 4th, there aren't any major wildfires left.
12. 물론 금요일 기준으로 아직 134건이 타고 있고, 그중 13건은 out of control (통제 불능) 상태라 아직 방심하면 안 돼.
Of course, as of Friday, 134 fires are still burning, with 13 of them out of control, so we shouldn’t let our guard down yet.
13. 아무튼 8월 22일쯤 이 씨 투 스카이 고속도로 근처를 지나가다가 dashcam (블랙박스) 영상이나 사진 찍힌 거 있는 사람, 아니면 이 눈치 없는 방화범에 대해 아는 게 있다면 스쿼미시 RCMP (캐나다 연방경찰) 쪽으로 제보해 달래.
