1. 금요일 밤 밴쿠버 다운타운에서 참 안타까운 사고가 있었어.
There was a really tragic accident in downtown Vancouver on Friday night.
2. 캐나다 플레이스 근처에서 VPD(밴쿠버 경찰)가 삼륜차에 타고 있던 어떤 남성이랑 대화를 시도했는데, 이 사람이 갑자기 차를 몰고 도주하기 시작한 거야.
The VPD tried to talk to a guy on a three-wheeler near Canada Place, but he suddenly took off.
3. 근데 도주를 시작한 지 한 블록도 채 못 가서, 이 남성이 타고 있던 차가 하얀색 혼다 SUV랑 정면으로 충돌해 버렸어.
But less than a block into the chase, his ride crashed head-on into a white Honda SUV.
4. 사고 직후에 중상을 입고 병원으로 급히 옮겨졌지만, 결국 안타깝게도 숨을 거두고 말았대.
Right after the crash, he was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries, but sadly, he didn't make it.
5. 이 남성이 타고 있던 차량은 폴라리스 슬링샷이라는 모델이었는데, 이게 오토바이랑 스포츠카를 반반 섞어 놓은 것처럼 생겼어.
The guy was driving a Polaris Slingshot, which looks like a cross between a motorcycle and a sports car.
6. 앞바퀴가 두 개, 뒷바퀴가 한 개고 지붕이 없는 오픈탑 형태지.
It’s got two wheels up front, one in the back and an open-top design with no roof at all.
7. 2리터 엔진에 180마력이나 되는 꽤 빠른 차야.
With a two-liter engine pushing 180 horsepower, it is a seriously fast ride.
8. 차량에는 리치먼드에 있는 렌터카 업체인 밴시티 슬링샷 로고가 붙어 있었는데, 업체 대표 말로는 자기네 소유 차량은 맞지만 누군가에게 대여해 준 적은 없다고 하더라고.
The ride had a logo for Vancity Slingshot, a rental shop over in Richmond, but the owner said it was theirs even though they never rented it out.
9. 현재 이 사건은 사망자가 발생한 비극적인 사고이기 때문에 IIO(독립수사국, 경찰 관련 사건을 조사하는 기관)에서 조사를 넘겨받은 상태야.

10. 경찰과 이 남성 사이에 처음에 어떤 일이 있었는지에 대해서는 아직 자세히 밝혀지지 않았어.
It’s still not really clear what actually went down between the cops and the guy at first.
