2. 바로 고소득자들 지갑을 좀 더 털어서 서민들 챙기겠다는 매운맛 세금 인상 플랜이야.
It’s basically a spicy tax hike plan to squeeze high earners a bit more and take care of regular folks.
3. 연봉이 19만 달러(약 1억 9천만 원) 이하인 96%의 평범한 사람들은 세금 오를 일 1도 없으니까 안심해도 돼.
The 96% of regular folks making under 190k Canadian dollars can totally breathe a sigh of relief because their taxes won’t go up at all.
4. 대신 19만 달러 넘게 버는 고소득자들은 세율이 2% 포인트 오르고, 연봉 100만 달러(약 10억 원)가 넘는 찐부자들을 위한 초고소득 구간도 새로 생겨.
Instead, high earners pulling in over 190k will see a two-point tax bump, and there is a brand-new tax bracket for filthy rich ballers making over a million.
5. 연방정부 세금까지 합치면 100만 달러 이상 버는 돈의 57.5%를 세금으로 내야 한대.
They say once you factor in federal taxes, you gotta cough up 57.5% in taxes on anything made over a million bucks.
6. 이비 아저씨 말로는 이렇게 해서 매년 10억 달러(약 1조 원)를 더 걷어서 의료 서비스 개선하고 물가 잡는 데 쓰겠다는 거지.
Eby says this will pull in an extra billion bucks a year to fix healthcare and tackle living costs
7. 근데 반대파들 태클도 만만치 않아.
But the pushback from the opposition is honestly no joke
8. 보수당(BC Conservative Party)은 “안 그래도 의사 없어서 응급실 문 닫는데, 의사들 세금 폭탄 때리면 누가 여기 오겠냐”며 팩폭을 날렸어.
The BC Conservatives dropped a reality check, saying ERs are already closing from doctor shortages, so who would even come here if we hit doctors with tax hikes?
9. 녹색당(BC Green Party)도 “진짜 부자들은 월급이 아니라 주식이나 부동산으로 돈 버는데 헛다리 짚었다”고 꼬집었지.
The BC Greens also called him out, saying he’s totally barking up the wrong tree, because the truly rich make their cash through stocks and real estate, not regular paychecks.
10. 여기에 더해 이비는 우유나 계란 같은 필수품에 가격 상한제(물건값을 일정 금액 이상 올리지 못하게 막는 제도)를 걸고, 기름값 세금도 깎아주겠다고 했어.
On top of that, Eby promised to cap prices on staples like milk and eggs, and slash the gas tax too.
11. 근데 경제학자들은 이러면 마트에서 물건 동나고 사재기 터질 수 있다고 경고하는 중이야.
But economists are warning that this could trigger empty shelves and crazy panic buying at all the grocery stores.
