According to Environment Canada meteorologists, there’s an insanely high chance this winter will be historically warm.
3. 눈도 평소보다 훨씬 덜 올 거라더라고.
They said we’re gonna get way less snow than usual.
4. 이게 다 엄청나게 강력한 엘니뇨(태평양 적도 부근의 해수면 온도가 비정상적으로 높아지는 기후 현상)가 연말에 최고조에 달했다가 봄까지 서서히 약해지기 때문이야.
This is all because a monster El Niño (where equatorial Pacific waters get freakishly warm) will hit its peak late this year and slowly taper off through spring.
5. 엘니뇨가 오면 보통 캐나다 전역이 따뜻해지는데, 특히 우리 같은 서부 해안 쪽이 그 영향을 직빵으로 받거든.
When El Niño rolls in, Canada usually warms up across the board, but folks on the West Coast like us really take the brunt of it.

On top of the long-term warming trend, this El Niño means we're likely getting a record-breaking mild winter.
7. 참고로 캐나다 역대 최고로 따뜻했던 겨울이 바로 2023-24년이었는데, 그때도 엘니뇨가 있었어.
Just so you know, Canada’s warmest winter on record was actually 2023-24, and we had El Niño back then too.

But apparently, the El Niño brewing this year is way stronger than back then.

Last time we barely got any snow, so Vancouver ski hills kept delaying their openings, and we had the second-warmest winter on record, remember?
