1. 수요일 아침에 BC주 매켄지(BC주 북부에 있는 소도시) 근처에서 정말 안타까운 셔틀버스 추락 사고가 발생했어.
There was a really heartbreaking shuttle bus crash near Mackenzie, BC on Wednesday morning.
2. 오전 9시 10분쯤, 매켄지에서 남쪽으로 4km 정도 떨어진 39번 고속도로(Highway 39)에서 하얀색 셔틀버스가 도랑으로 굴러떨어졌다는 신고가 들어왔거든.
A call came in around 9:10 a.m. that a white shuttle bus rolled over into a ditch on Highway 39, about four kilometers south of Mackenzie.
3. 경찰이 현장에 도착해보니 상황이 꽤 심각했나 봐.
When the cops arrived at the scene, it looked like things were pretty serious.
4. 운전기사를 포함해서 버스에 타고 있던 약 20명의 승객이 다쳤는데, 가벼운 부상부터 중상까지 상태가 다양했어.
About twenty people on the bus including the driver, ended up getting hurt with injuries ranging from minor to serious
5. 경찰 쪽에서도 현장이 너무 혼란스러워서 정확한 사고 경위를 파악하는 데 시간이 꽤 걸릴 것 같다고 발표했지.
The cops even said that it’s gonna take a good while to figure out what really happened because the scene was total chaos.
6. 이 버스는 아이렌(Iren, 호주의 데이터 센터 운영 기업)이라는 회사에서 외주 업체를 통해 전세 낸 통근 버스였어.
This bus was actually a commuter shuttle chartered by a company called Iren through a third-party contractor
7. 아이렌 측에서도 탑승자들의 안전이 최우선이라며 경찰과 응급 구조대원들에게 최대한 협조하고 있다고 입장을 밝혔지.
Iren also said passenger safety comes first, and they’re doing everything they can to cooperate with police and first responders.
8. 부상자가 많다 보니 구조 규모도 엄청났어.
With so many people injured, the whole rescue operation was absolutely massive.
9. 응급 의료 헬기(에어 앰뷸런스)만 무려 6대나 출동했거든.
They actually had to send out a whopping six air ambulances.
10. 현장에서 20명이 응급 처치를 받았고, 그중 상태가 심각한 1명은 헬기로 바로 병원에 이송됐어.
Twenty people got treated right on the scene, and one person in critical condition was airlifted straight to the hospital.
11. 다른 6명도 일반 구급차로 먼저 병원에 갔다가 다시 헬기를 타고 다른 큰 병원으로 옮겨졌는데, 이 중 2명은 중상이고 4명은 중상이지만 안정적인 상태라고 해.
Another six were rushed by regular ambulance to a local hospital first, then airlifted to a much bigger facility, with two in critical condition and four seriously hurt but stable.
12. 나머지 13명은 다행히 상태가 안정적이라 버스를 타고 구급대원들과 함께 병원으로 이동했어.
Luckily, the other thirteen were totally stable, so they took a bus to the hospital right along with the paramedics.
13. 이 사고 때문에 고속도로가 몇 시간 동안 통제됐다가 수요일 늦은 오후에야 교차 통행으로 겨우 한 차선만 열렸어.
The accident shut down the highway for hours, and it only reopened to single-lane alternating traffic late on Wednesday afternoon.
14. 버스가 북쪽으로 달리다가 왜 갑자기 도랑으로 빠졌는지는 아직 밝혀지지 않았어.
Nobody really knows yet why the bus suddenly ended up in the ditch while it was heading up north.
15. 경찰은 사고 직전 버스를 봤거나 블랙박스 영상이 있는 사람들의 제보를 애타게 기다리고 있어.
The cops are desperately waiting for anyone who saw the bus right before the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward.
